Mount Nemrut is notable for the monument at the 2,134-metre-high summit of King Antiochus I of Commagene, built in 62 BC. The tomb-sanctuary includes colossal stone statues (8-9 metres / 26-30 ft high) of himself, two lions, two eagles, and various Greek and Iranian gods. Karakus Tumulus was built by Mithridates II of Commagene as a monument for his mother Isias, sister Antiochis, and niece Aka. The site features a burial mound surrounded by doric columns. Cendere Bridge (Septimius Severus Bridge) is a Roman bridge spanning the Cendere River. Built by Legio XVI Flavia Firma, it is the second largest preserved Roman arched bridge. Arsemia on the Nymphaios was the summer residence and royal seat of the Commagene kings, featuring magnificent rock reliefs and inscriptions. After visiting these ancient monuments, you will be transferred back to Sanliurfa Airport or your hotel.
